About

An attorney who has run the company.

Morrow was built on a simple premise: legal advice is worth more when the lawyer understands how a business actually runs — and it should not take three weeks and a committee to get an answer.

The premise.

Legal issues never come alone. They touch people, revenue, vendors, partners, capital, and reputation at the same time. The firm brings legal judgment and operating experience to the decisions where those threads meet — and stays for the part most advice skips: getting it done.

Paul Albarrán

Founder and principal attorney

Paul Albarrán is an attorney and an operator, and he works like a partner in the business — not a vendor to it.

He started as a commercial litigator at one of Michigan's largest firms and spent six years learning, up close, how things go wrong. Early on he was lead counsel on a landmark environmental mass-tort case — a Fortune-50 opponent, hundreds of clients, years of hard discovery and trial work — and over that stretch he handled more than a hundred matters across regulated industries and won a federal jury trial as first chair. Litigation teaches something you can't get any other way: you see, in detail, the contract no one read closely, the risk no one owned, the decision made without a plan. It's an education in how businesses actually break.

But what he kept coming back to were the clients themselves — their companies, how they ran, what it would take to help them grow. He wanted to be in the business, not across the table from it. So he moved in-house: chief legal officer of a national telehealth company, then founder and operator of his own venture in a regulated market, and counsel to companies that have together generated hundreds of millions in revenue. Today he serves as outside general counsel to companies across regulated and emerging industries — telehealth and digital health, pharmacy and wellness, e-commerce, technology, data privacy, and complex cross-border work.

That's the point of the combination. He's seen how things fail and built things that work; he's made his own mistakes and recovered from them; he's carried real companies from early stage to scale. He tends to find the way through a problem rather than the reason to stop — and he reads a legal question the way you do, as a business decision, because he's had to live with the outcome.

Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome.

Experience

  • Outside general counsel to growth-stage companies in telehealth, e-commerce, regulated wellness, and technology — contracts, vendors, regulatory strategy, board questions, people issues.
  • Chief legal officer of a national telehealth company: enterprise-wide contracting, including enterprise software agreements with vendors like Salesforce; upstream supplier relationships for hormone-therapy, peptide, and wellness product lines; internal investigations, lender negotiations, and risk audits; led the company through LegitScript certification.
  • Chief operating officer and chief legal officer of a concierge health company he founded: built and ran the operation, and led its LegitScript certification.
  • Pharmacy and pharmaceutical supply chain: deep experience with 503A compounding pharmacies and 503B outsourcing facilities, and with the supply chain from active pharmaceutical ingredient to finished product — reading quality agreements and manufacturing-compliance issues commercially, and knowing when to bring in a quality consultant.
  • Commercial litigation and regulatory: six years at a top Michigan firm; lead counsel on a landmark environmental mass tort (550+ clients); first-chair federal jury trial; TCPA litigation; data privacy and cybersecurity counseling — incident response, compliance programs, GDPR-era program design.
  • Regulated and emerging markets: cannabis, autonomous-vehicle technology, crypto and blockchain, health and wellness.
  • Fundraising and lenders: has raised and negotiated capital from the company side, including mezzanine debt.
  • Credentials: J.D., University of Notre Dame Law School (2017); B.S. Philosophy, Oakland University (2014); Michigan bar. Judicial externships at the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court (2015). Based in Metro Detroit; works with companies nationally. Bilingual in English and Spanish.

The model.

Morrow is one attorney plus a platform built for legal work. AI handles the intake, the research, and the first drafts — the volume. Paul reviews, decides, and signs — the judgment. Clients get the output of a team with the accountability of one name on the door, and a lawyer who reads legal questions the way an operator does, because he's been the operator.

Where the firm works.

Morrow works with companies across the country. Where a matter requires counsel admitted in another jurisdiction, the firm coordinates local counsel.

For companies that need more than a legal answer.
